After a highly contested special election, state Representative Jan Angel came out victorious against appointed incumbent Senator Nathan Schlicher in the battle to claim the state Senate seat in Legislative District 26.
The 2,200-plus who joined the 8th annual Values Voter Summit sent a strong message to the Washington establishment over the weekend by showing their support of Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the 2013 VVS Presidential Straw Poll. Cruz finished first with 42 percent of the votes cast.
Dr. Ben Carson finished in second place at 13 percent, with only one vote separating him from former Sen. Rick Santorum. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) came in fourth, with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fl.) right behind at six and five percent respectively.
In a surprise to no one, dog rescuer, cat saver, and erstwhile mayor of Newark Cory Booker secured the Democratic nomination for a New Jersey U.S. Senate seat. Despite his crony tech scandal, the voters were utterly smitten by his social media acumen and his ability to eat on less than $ 30 a month, which really should be the only prerequisites for being a U.S. Senator.
Missouri State Speaker Pro Tem Jason Smith easily won tonight’s special election in Missouri’s 8th District and will head to Washington, D.C., to work alongside fellow conservatives in the House. Tea Party favorite Smith, 32, was endorsed by Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, as well as the National Rifle Association.

Actress Julianne Moore won a Golden Globe award tonight for her portrayal of GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in “Game Change.” The movie’s director, Jay Roach, who also snagged a Golden Globe for best TV mini-series/movie, praised Moore for her courage. Because, you know, jumping on the anti-Palin bandwagon in Hollywood takes real guts.
