If Rep. Pete King (R-NY) is trying to get a little love from Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi—the kind that is often reserved for John McCain—the above tweet might do the trick.
However, Rep. King’s comment did not earn him any love from many on Twitter:
New Jersey: Governor Christie Vetoes Major Anti-Gun Bills and Gun Owners Secure a Significant and Rare Victory
Today, Governor Chris Christie (R) vetoed a trio of anti-gun bills after nearly seven months of contentious public debate. Misguided anti-gun state lawmakers introduced more than 80 anti-gun bills at the beginning of the year. By this summer, more than a dozen bills cleared both legislative chambers and were sent to the Governor for his consideration and action. Earlier this month, Governor Christie signed ten of those gun bills into law, but he left three deeply flawed bills for today’s action. Your NRA-ILA was there every step of the way to oppose these onerous and overreaching bills. Of all the legislation introduced, the three bills vetoed today were the most egregious.
Georgetown University’s health insurance will cover contraception starting next month for students, faculty, and staff.
The announcement came in the form of a blast email to the entire campus from university president John DeGioia, indicating that because the Affordable Care Act requires that all insurance policies cover contraceptives (including abortifacients and sterilization procedures), all students, faculty, and staff will have that coverage, which goes into effect August 15th. Wrote DeGioia:
The news of two men supposedly being cured from HIV (only the 3rd and 4th people ever to be cured) is cause for celebration for those promoting ethical adult stem cells, and provides motivation to increase adult stem cell research. As reported at the International AIDS Society meeting in Kuala Lumpur, the two men, now known as the “Boston patients”, received bone marrow adult stem cell transplants as part of their treatment for lymphoma.
