Tragedy hit a family in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 15 when Harris County deputy constable Joe Williams and his wife, Laurie, were badly injured in a tollbooth collision. A garbage truck hit their vehicle going about 65 mph while they were stopped and paying the toll.
The driver of the garbage truck blew through the toll area and hit two other cars before the vehicle burst into flames, killing the driver and another person.
Chronograph is a simple utility that synchronizes your computer’s internal clock to the atomic time.
Are you sure your computer clock always shows the current time? Because if it doesn’t the consequences might be much worse than just a messed up personal schedule. Contrary to what you might think, showing time to a user is not the most important function of a computer clock. This clock is also used for many critical system processes like creating files and managing programs execution. That’s why incorrect time can cause various problems from mere wrong time stamps in your e-mail to system instability in the worst case scenario.
Penn Jillette Talks ‘The Book of Mormon,’ His New Movie & Time Travel in Another Fascinating Sit-Down With Glenn Beck
Multi-talented magician, comedian, author, actor and atheist Penn Jillette appeared on The Glenn Beck Program Tuesday to discuss religion, his new movie (featuring Beck himself), and what technology means for the future.
The two began with a conversation about Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon,” which many have found offensive but Jillette said is actually a “love letter to Mormons by an atheist.”
We’ve been told that HealthCare.gov will be up and running by the end of the month, but President Obama didn’t do much to inspire confidence before a room of OFA supporters Monday night. Rather than wait for the website to be fixed, he urged supporters to remember a time before the Internet, which wasn’t that long ago, after all.
Illinois: House Amendment to Create Mandatory Jail Time for Victimless Crimes to be Considered as Early as Tomorrow
House Amendment 2 to Senate Bill 1342, filed by state Representative Michael Zalewski (D-23), is expected to be voted on during the veto session of the state legislature beginning tomorrow, October 22. If passed and enacted into law, this amendment would create and impose harsh mandatory minimum felony penalties for individuals who carry or possess a firearm on any public street, alley or public lands.
Illinois: Bill to Create Mandatory Jail Time for Victimless Crimes to be Heard as Early as October 22
House Bill 2265, sponsored by state Representative Michael Zalewski (D-23), is poised to create and impose harsh mandatory minimum felony penalties ranging from three to ten years in prison for those who carry a firearm without a Concealed Carry License (CCL) or possess a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID). This specific provision incorrectly targets otherwise law-abiding citizens, rather than deterring violent criminals with harsher penalties.
“I was able to make it home in time to be with my wife for the birth of our first child! She was in labor for 23 hours not knowing the whole time I was on my way and praying I’d make it in time. Fortunately, she held out in time for the big surprise.” [...]

California: Still Time to Contact the Governor and Urge Him to VETO ALL Anti-Gun and Anti-Hunting Bills
Governor Jerry Brown has until October 13 to sign or veto the onerous bills listed below and he STILL needs to hear your OPPOSITION. Governor Brown needs to know that the liberal media has it wrong and that California has hundreds of thousands of law-abiding gun owners, sportsmen and Second Amendment supporters as residents and voters.
In light of the recent study indicating the safety concerns with 3-parent IVF in animal studies–and given the pronounced ethical concerns–the Center for Bioethics and Culture asked me to flesh out my views about the contentious biotechnology. I do so in “Now is the Time to Stop Three-Parent IVF:”
If you believe in the sacredness of human life from conception to natural death, it’s time to watch and pray for those at the end of life, not just the beginning.
In his novel, “Never Let Me Go,” Kazuo Ishiguro tells the story of three young people—Kathy, Ruth, and Tommy—who are repeatedly told, with their classmates at boarding school, that they’re special. But it’s not until they leave school that they learn why: They’re clones whose sole purpose for existence is to serve as organ donors.
In a brave column in Christianity Today, Jennifer Lahl urges us to consider “the overlooked ethics of reproduction”.
She asks, “The barren womb is a matter of great heartache and sadness. But is it unlike any other suffering we are asked to carry? In what ways might Job’s question, ‘Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?’ affect our thinking about infertility?”
Of course Sarah Palin will be slammed for once again resorting to “violent rhetoric,” so it’s worth noting the obvious fact: the Tomahawk cruise missiles to be used in that “foreign fiasco” are real, and it’s not Palin setting the coordinates.
Palin’s tweet links to a new SarahPAC video, which tackles that ridiculous claim about Obamacare death panels … which turned out to be kinda, sorta true.
The agreement includes retransmission fees the cable operator pays to CBS per subscriber, which had been a sticking point.
