The Obama administration has secretly cut off military aid to Egypt, according to a spokesman for Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).
David Carle told the Daily Beast that Sen. Leahy’s “understanding is that aid to the Egyptian military has been halted, as required by law.” Leahy is the chairman of the Senate Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee.
The U.S. Department of Justice has put a hold on the evidence in the George Zimmerman case, according to the Sanford Police Department.
The DOJ announced earlier this week that there was an open investigation into the death of Trayvon Martin. Officials are looking to determine whether Zimmerman violated Martin’s civil rights.
“Multiple agencies are working with the civil rights division to evaluate evidence from the federal investigation and recent state trial, the office of public affairs said in a statement issued Monday,” News 13 in Orlando reports.
In the national debate over late-term abortions, new figures bring the practice of unborn children dying late in pregnancy into a stark reality.
A new Congressional Budget Office report shows unborn children who have passed 20 weeks of pregnancy are killed in abortions about 30 times every day. And with some states not fully reporting their abortion numbers and some states with abortion facilities that alter fetal age at the time of the abortion to make later abortions “comply” with state limits, that number is likely higher.
In both 2006 and 2010 — and potentially during preceding years — female prisoners were reportedly sterilized in the state of California by contracted doctors with the state’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The sterilizations for at least 148 women took place without government approval, according to a report by the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR), a group that exposes injustices that generally go unaccounted for in American society.
As the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill tears though Congress (and the proposed border fence) like a speeding locomotive, Sen. Ted Cruz’ stand as an immovable object on border security has won him a fan at the Drudge Report. A screen shot for posterity tweeted from Cruz’ account garnered more than 700 retweets within a couple of hours.

Al-Qaeda’s English language magazine, which last month labeled the Boston bombers as “great brothers,” was reportedly hacked by U.S. intelligence agencis to make content unreadable, according to the Washington Post. This attempt to, at least temporarily, disrupt readers from viewing Inspire magazine has re-ignited a debate regarding the First Amendment and extremist content.
WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — A government watchdog has found that the Internal Revenue Service spent about $ 50 million to hold at least 220 conferences for employees between 2010 and 2012, according to a House committee.
That total included $ 4 million for an August 2010 conference in Anaheim, Calif., for which the agency did not negotiate lower room rates, even though that is standard government practice, according to a statement by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
We have President Obama’s official response to the inspector general’s report on the IRS and its targeting of conservative groups, and that response is: Treasury Secretary Jack Lew will totally handle it. We wouldn’t want to be in the room when those rogue low-level employees get a stern talking-to. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is sending out signals, though, that he’s going to demand a bit more of a response than that before this case is closed.
With many conservatives soured on frequently mentioned 2016 GOP presidential contenders like Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Chris Christie, National Review’s Robert Costa reports that freshman Sen. Ted Cruz is seriously considering a bid.
Cruz is cagey about what he says in public and private, but his interest is undeniable, according to people who've spoken with him—

ICE Official Calls TheBlaze’s Report on Deportation ‘Categorically False’ — But Says They Do Have Different Saudi in Custody
A senior law enforcement official with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told TheBlaze Thursday that reports claiming the department was deporting Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi under section 212 3B (“security and related grounds”) and had opened an “event” (or file) on the Saudi Arabian national following the Boston attacks is “categorically false.”
Report: Saudi National Ruled Out as ‘Suspect’ in Boston Marathon Bombings to Be Deported on National Security Grounds Next Week
Appearing on “Hannity” Wednesday night, the Investigative Project on Terrorism’s Steve Emerson reported that Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national who was briefly named a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombings, is being deported on Tuesday. He based his information on a number of his confidential sources.
“I just learned from my own sources that he is now going to be deported on national security grounds next Tuesday,” Emerson said.
WH econ.adviser re: jobs:"…not the time for Washington to impose more self-inflicted wounds" on econ., asks Congress to replace sequester—
Hallie Jackson (@HallieJackson) April 05, 2013
It’s not just left-wing pundits and groups like the Center for American Progress trying to tie today’s dismal jobs numbers to “sequester spring.” Now the White House is getting in on the dizzying spin. Unexpectedly!
Whoops! The jokes write themselves after this SNAFU in Israel this morning. Obama’s limo, known as “The Beast,” failed to start after the driver filled up with the wrong type of fuel.
The limo had to be towed.
