Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper has apologized for making a controversial and offensive comment at a Kenny Chesney concert.
Incriminating video of Cooper’s offensive remark was published by CrossingBroad.com on Wednesday.
“I will jump that fence and fight every n***er here,” Cooper can be heard saying in the video. Watch below (Warning: offensive language):
Cooper later apologized in a series of tweets and later a press conference on Wednesday, saying he was “ashamed” and “disgusted” with himself.
I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize. I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, Jeffrey Lurie, and
Howie roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did
Was wrong and I will accept the consequences.
Though it has not been confirmed, Deadspin reports, citing a “tipster” that Riley lost his cool when a black security guard wouldn’t allow him to go backstage at the concert.
Cooper was also apparently involved in an altercation at the same concert. Video of the incident was posted back in June, NBC Philadelphia reports.
