During the selectmen’s discussion last week, Selectman Barry Greenfield asked the town’s legal counsel to provide an opinion on whether that provision could be locally enforced.”We need the ability to enforce the state law,” Greenfield said, accord ing to Patch’s coverage of the meeting on Nov. 6, before asking if police in Swampscott, a town of about 14,000 people on the North Shore, would have the authority to inspect gun storage. Texas Officials Subpoena Tweets of Abortion Activists Wanting Perry Killed

During the debate about the 20-week late-term abortion ban in Texas, members of the pro-abortion mob made death threats on a number of officials. Now, Texas law enforcement officials are looking into tweets that called for the killing of pro-life elected officials, such as Governor Rick Perry.

WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — The chairman of the House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed four State Department officials as part of the panel’s investigation of the deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, last year.

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa said in a statement and letter to Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday that delays in scheduling interviews with the officials were taking too long and he had no choice.

North Carolina Officials Vow to Closely Monitor Charlotte Abortion Clinic

North Carolina health officials have allowed a southeast Charlotte abortion clinic to reopen, but vow they will closely monitor operations at A Preferred Woman’s Health Center. The abortion clinic was shut down in early May, the second time the clinic has lost its license.

The first occasion was in February 2007, when, as the Charlotte Observer reported, “state investigators found as many as 16 safety and regulatory issues at the clinic, according to a letter DHHS sent the clinic.”
