To say the least, some of the characters who have appeared on the national scene in recent years have demonstrated some enormous egos and used some pretty ill-tempered language in their efforts to turn this nation into something we wouldn’t recognize. But Army Lt. Col. Robert Bateman is challenging them for top dishonors in that regard, with an o…
Outrage of the Week: Do as I Say, Not as I Do–NY Elitists Ray Kelly and Mayor Bloomberg Think Their Safety is More Important than Yours
Outgoing New York Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly has long been anti-gun. And, as a minion of anti-gun New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, he is, naturally, an outspoken proponent of Bloomberg’s gun control initiatives and agenda. But guess what? When he leaves office and reverts back to just being an “average citizen,” Kelly want…

WASHINGTON (AP) — Heart-clogging trans fats were once a staple of the American diet, plentiful in baked goods, microwave popcorn and fried foods. Now, mindful of the health risks, the Food and Drug Administration is getting rid of what’s left of them for good.
Condemning artificial trans fats as a threat to public health, the FDA announced Thursday it will require the food industry to phase them out.
Thanks to your efforts, Senators Max Baucus (D-Mont.), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), sent a letter to President Obama opposing the ratification of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. This letter joins the bipartisan efforts of 50 senators and 181 members of the House of Representatives. The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty poses a clear threat to Second Amendment rights because of the inclusion of “small arms and light weapons,” which includes firearms owned by law-abiding American citizens. This treaty also sets the stage for a national gun registry which could be made available to other nations.
Nearly a year after the Newtown, Conn., school shootings spawned considerable U.S. debate about passing stricter gun control laws, almost half of Americans believe the laws covering the sale of firearms should be strengthened and half say they should stay the same or be less strict.
It’s quite popular to join the fight against human sex trafficking. On college campuses across the country, one of the most uncontroversial efforts to engage in is fighting against this despicable human injustice. But those same campuses demonize those whose fight is the abolition of another, and more prevalent, human injustice—abortion.
I’ve always found it strange that anti-trafficking organizations, fighting modern-day slavery, rarely (if ever) mention abortion. How does one speak of the sexual exploitation and dehumanization of women and girls and not discuss the reality of abortions?

‘More Power to Her’: Blaze Readers React to Athletic Mother of Three Under Fire for Posting ‘What’s Your Excuse?’ Photo
TheBlaze posted a story earlier this week about a fit mom accused of “fat shaming” after posting a photo of herself with her three young children, saying “What’s your excuse?” Some took offense to the photo while others believe Maria Kang is a good motivator.
Here’s what some readers of TheBlaze had to say:
As Twitchy reported, Iowahawk made an awesome beer bet: He bet that more people would retweet his tweet than enrolled at the Obamacare federal website. He’s almost there! Currently, the tweet has been retweeted over 2,000 times.
Another Twitter user noted some things that have more sign-ups than Obamacare. The always ludicrous Ezra Klein got that ball rolling with this squeeing tweet:
“Yikes” was Michael Reagan’s reaction to the news that Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday signed legislation allowing more than two people to be listed as a child’s parents. The Sacramento Bee reports:
Senate Bill 274 authorizes a court to recognize more than two parents if endorsing fewer would be “detrimental” to the child.
Who doesn’t have a soft spot for Sandra Bullock? From ‘Miss Congeniality’ to ‘The Blind Side’ her funny, sweet performances have captured the hearts of movie goers worldwide. I loved her role as Birdie alongside Harry Connick Jr. in the romantic drama ‘Hope Floats’. The story of a broken lady learning to love again touched my sentimental heart.
