A judge allowed a Texas husband’s bid to remove his “brain dead” pregnant wife from life support, an action that would end the life of his own unborn child. Marlise Munoz collapsed in her home last November from an apparent blood clot in her lungs when she was 14 weeks pregnant with her second child. […]…
A federal judge Friday afternoon struck down a pro-life law in North Carolina allowing women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby before considering an abortion. The law faced a lawsuit from the ACLU and Planned Parenthood. The law also requires the abortion practitioner to allow a woman considering an abortion to […]…
Imagine you run a shoddy abortion clinic that amasses a $ 36,000 fine by your state’s health department. You file for bankruptcy, but your case is dismissed. Then, you close out your bank account, dissolve your old company, change your name, and move to a different location. When the state comes calling, you say the old […]…
Federal judge upholds New York’s “SAFE Act” ban on “assault weapons”, rejects 7-round magazine limit
New York’s new gun control law is constitutional and should remain largely in effect, a federal judge in Buffalo ruled today. Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny said the law, a response to the Sandy Hook shootings that killed 20 children and six adults, is not a violation of the Second Amendment. The one exception Skretny found was the …
The judge who is adjudicating the case of Jahi McMath has granted an extension for life support after a legal request from her family’s attorney. A county judge extended the order for Oakland-based Children’s Hospital to keep Jahi McMath on life support until 5 p.m. on January 7. Her mother and family say she is […]…
The controversial California case of Jahi McMath, who was diagnosed as “brain dead” due to complications following routine tonsil surgery, has made progress. Yesterday an Alameda County judge ruled that Jahi will — in accordance with her family’s wishes — stay on her ventilator contrary to the wishes of her hospital. The judge has granted…
Born in the USA. Educated, lacking for nothing — so what possibly went wrong? How did these American Muslims come to “misunderstand” Islam in the exact same way as millions of other devout Muslims across the world? Downright mystifying. It’s a brain twister, all right. “Judge imposes maximum 15-year prison sentences for Alabama-hatched terrorism p…
In yet another pro-life victory against the HHS mandate that forces churches and religious groups to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions for their employees, a federal judge has ruled that the Catholic Church in Pittsburgh doesn’t have to comply. Bishop David Zubik of Pittsburgh made such a stink when he […]…
The U.S. Senate today failed to stop a Republican filibuster against pro-abortion Cornelia Pillard, a law professor President Barack Obama selected for an appointment to the most important appeals court in the nation.
Obama’[s pick for the D.C. Circuit Court, who is one of the most pro-abortion ever nominated, saw senators vote 56-41 to invoke cloture on her nomination and proceed to a vote. Short of the 60 votes needed, Democrats were unable to stop the Republican filibuster against the abortion advocate.
A Texas judge today issued an opinion striking down two parts of a Texas pro-life law that protects women from dangerous abortions.
The judge blocked part of the law that required its doctors to have the right to admit patients to local hospitals. Texas became one of several states that require abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at local hospitals so women can be treated when they are victimized by botched abortions.
A federal judge in Nebraska has ordered the state to stop enforcing a law that prevents legal, non-citizens from getting a permit to carry a concealed handgun.
The Red River Clinic, the sole public abortion business in North Dakota, reportedly performs an average of 1,200 abortions a year. Yet its fly-in abortionists have no admitting privileges with local hospitals, should a woman suffer complications from her abortion.
The North Dakota legislature approved a bill which would require all abortionists to have admitting privileges at a local hospital. Because the abortion business can’t find a hospital to enter into an agreement with it, the abortion facility would have to close.
With the agreement of both parties, last week U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson extended the Temporary Restraining Order he issued in June blocking a section of Alabama’s pro-life HB 57. The TRO, scheduled to expire in August, was extended to March 2014.
The provision at issue is that the commonsense requirement that abortionists have admitting privileges in a local hospital, in case there are complications. The plaintiffs are three of the state’s five abortion clinics. (The other two abortion clinics–in Huntsville and Tuscaloosa—use abortionists with admitting privileges to local hospitals.)
Today, Shawnee County Judge Franklin Theis heard arguments for and against retaining the July 2012 revocation of the medical license of former abortionist Ann Kristen (Kris) Neuhaus. The judge said his ruling will not be ready for sometime.
The complaint from the state Board of Healing Arts is that Neuhaus failed to follow the standard of care in recommending that eleven teens in 2003 were eligible to abort viable babies because continuing the pregnancy caused them to suffer substantial and irreversible mental harm.
