Erik Piper – re: #29 – Zoner Photo Studio “phones home” so it can pop up a window if there are updates (patches) available or if a new version has come out. Maybe this is what is bothering Online-Armor?
Will this program then auto-update and cease to work because, as said under the GOTD terms and conditions, “No free upgrades to future versions” – I’ve had more than one GOTD offering auto-upgrade itself into no longer working unless I paid for a new code.
If so, is there a way to turn off the ‘phone call’?

To No8: You didn’t mention what’s wrong with opening image files in Photo Studio by default? Why is this not o.k. for you?
I will wirte down my view on this issue: I haven’t used this feature in v10 just because I thought that other lighter programs were able to open files faster. But in v11 I tried this mode and I like it very much.
You just have to set Photo Studio to open file in Viewer and NOT in Editor by default, this way you can watch photos just like with other software and the image opens really in no time and I think it’s faster than other photo viewers.
Also about the image opened in Viewer, you can move it to next or previous image or start slideshow, and if you wish to edit a photo then just click on big button “Editor” on top right corner and the image is in edit mode in no time, passage from Viewer to Editor is extremly quick, less than a second.
There is no need for second photo software for an average user, this one can do everything and if you are somehow deeper in photography just consider buying a Professional version which is awesome and many times cheaper than Photoshop.
To No21 about transparency:
You should rethink about this issue again and you will see that transparency in fact belongs to the section “photo-related features”.
You should consider that today almost everyone have some kind of web album or web page, also many people have their own blogs. Putting photos on the web many times requires transparency to match some areas with website background.
Just one example: If you want to make photo with rounded corners(which is what many people are doing when putting their photos on their websites) you must make the corners of the photo transparent to match it with the background of the website.
If you ask me, this issue is very important and I believe many people will not buy the next edition of Photoshop anymore but a licence for Photo Studio Pro will be enough for all needs. Thank you for your attention, have a good day and keep the good work with suck great software.

From your reply to Jason I take it that this issue is VISTA-RELATED ONLY and that no such problem occurs on Win XP SP2 systems.

go to http://www.zoner.com/it-it/photo-studio-professional/lp1 (is italian language) and choose YOUR language at the top rigt of the page – at least updates to german and italian language are available.
Can anyone tell me if this program can add text to the photos using tags in batch mode?
What I want to do is show the date that the photo was taken as text on the photo itself and do it in batch mode.
I’ve got software that will do it one at a time, but the manual process, obviously, takes forever. I’ve also found some software in which the free version will do this batchwise, but it gives you a nag screen every ten pictures or so. So starting a large batch of pictures and walking away is useless since you have to click OK on the nag screen every few seconds. It’s better than manual one-at-a-time, but it still requires your attendance.
If this program does not do it, does anyone know of any freeware alternatives that will?

Review:
Smooth download/installation/activation on Win 7 (32-bit) OS. In fact, the program automatically registered itself using my real name, which was quite surprising and impressive at the same time. Program is feature-rich, with numerous editing options, capabilities, settings and designations (too many to mention here.) It also lists the computer’s drives and directory structures on the left-hand-side pane view, which is convenient, for easy access while a user is editing photos, and its GUI is attractive and easy to navigate.
Summary: Two thumbs up for today’s giveaway. Thanks much, GOTD and Zoner for this nice program.

Can you tag photos? No like Picassa where it creates a reference database, but I want to be able to tag photos and have them stored in the files themselves?
I have Version 11 Xpress from previous GOTD. Zoner was kind enough to offer me my language pack (Russian) in about a month after the GOTD day. That was nice.
I am pleased with it, though the RAW camera files support is limited and I need it sometimes. Thus I am using concurrently a free alternative FastStoneImage Viewer (www.faststone.org) with has editing and conversion functionality and works with many RAW formats.
